OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

As a Front End Web Developer in our commercial organization at Takeda UK and Ireland, your primary objective is to create engaging and user-friendly web interfaces that effectively communicate our brand message and showcase our products and services to our target audience. You will collaborate closely with our marketing and medical teams to implement cutting-edge web designs and ensure seamless user experiences across various devices and browsers. Your role will be crucial in enhancing our online presence and driving customer engagement.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Demand Management: Use JIRA and other demand management tools to actively prioritise and manage technical demand requests coming into the team

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage relevant stakeholders across the MCO to refine requirements and actively manage expectations regarding technical feasibility and delivery timeframes

  • Front End Development: Develop and maintain high-quality, responsive web applications and interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in line with the ABPI Code of Practice

  • User Experience Optimization: Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and mockups into functional web pages while ensuring optimal user experience.

  • Cross-Browser Compatibility: Ensure consistent rendering and functionality across different browsers and devices.

  • Performance Optimization: Implement best practices for web performance optimization to ensure fast page load times and smooth user interactions.

  • Content Management Integration: Integrate front end code with content management systems (CMS), particularly Drupal, to facilitate seamless content updates and management.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with back end developers, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated web solutions that meet business requirements.

  • Testing and Debugging: Conduct thorough testing and debugging of web applications to identify and resolve issues, ensuring high levels of reliability and usability.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for front end code, ensuring clear and comprehensive documentation for future reference.

DIMENSIONS AND ASPECTS

Technical/Functional Expertise

  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and Vanilla JavaScript, with an understanding of modern front end frameworks such as React.js or Next.

  • Experience with responsive design techniques and frameworks like Bootstrap or Foundation.

  • Familiarity with version control systems and best practices, particularly Git.

  • Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of accessibility for websites is essential

  • Knowledge of cross-browser and cross-device compatibility issues and solutions.

  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), preferably Drupal 9 / 10, including content modelling, theme development utilising twig / php, and integration with backend enterprise systems and APIs.

  • Understanding of web performance optimization techniques and tools.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • A working understanding of REST or GraphQL APIs would be an advantage

  • Experience with Pantheon or similar web hosting platforms would be advantageous.

  • Implementation of Web Analytics and DataLayers in a manner that is compliant with GDPR

  • Comfortable writing and maintaining technical documentation when necessary

  • Strong Business Relationship and Stakeholder Management skills required

  • Self-driven and motivated

  • Ability to influence and manage others

Interaction

  • Partner and work with MCO teams on BU and SLT level.

  • Closely work with commercial functions in MCO or at regional level e.g. Access, Patient Services, Marketing, launch and sales teams.

  • Partner with Regional/Global DD&T delivery functions and other functions in DD&T

  • Partner with Digital marketing agencies to ensure solution delivery when required

  • Ensure strong partnership and collaboration with DD&T colleagues across LOCs

Innovation

  • Ensure innovative mindset, be up to date on the latest developments in web development technologies

Complexity

  • LOC level and cross-country stakeholders and needs

  • LOC leadership level communication and presentation

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business administration, or related field or equivalent experience (minimum)

  • 5+ years of relevant technical experience

  • 5+ Work experience in Front-end web development roles

  • Ability to work in an agile and rapid changing environment with high quality deliverables and is considered a subject matter expert in the technical/commercial area of expertise.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, business acumen with problem solving and analytical skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
