Meeting Patient Needs With Hope and Empathy
Hope and empathy. These two words are not often associated with pharmaceutical companies. But here at Takeda, our people are motivated to serve patients with integrity, respect, and empathy. Driven by our mission, we seek to bring hope of better health and a brighter future to those we impact. To do this, we focus on our chosen core therapeutic areas:
- Develop life-saving vaccines
No matter the region, business unit, function, or team, everyone at Takeda matters. Each of our 30,000 employees is a vital contributor to our bold, inspiring mission.
Oncology: Aspiring to Cure Cancer
Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Takeda Oncology's dedicated research and development (R&D) function fosters scientific collaboration around the world. Our team includes some of the world's finest thought leaders in protein homeostasis, medicinal chemistry, biology, and clinical sciences. Employees working in Oncology build strong partnerships and believe that, together, we can make a dramatic impact on the lives of cancer patients worldwide.
Gastroenterology: Helping Patients Stay Active
More than 70 million people are impacted by gastrointestinal (GI) diseases, which can be debilitating and life-changing. As a long-time leader in this area, we seek new ways to help patients with GI conditions continue with their active lives. Our employees are meeting the unmet needs of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and GI acid-related diseases, such as Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis. Our GI R&D team is also exploring solutions in celiac disease and liver diseases, and making advancements through microbiome therapies.
Neuroscience: Innovating for Mental Health
Around the globe, more than one billion people suffer from neuropsychiatric disorders. And that number is growing. At a time when many companies are shifting their focus away from neuroscience, employees at Takeda are accepting this challenge head-on. Neuropsychiatric disorders (those that affect the brain, spinal cord, and the optic nerves) are common among 25-30% of the world’s population. In our unwavering commitment to putting patients first, our focus is on those who currently have no adequate available treatments.
Vaccines: Our Progress Will Impact Billions
Our global vaccine business is applying innovation to address some of the world’s most challenging infectious diseases. Recently, we completed our global Phase 3 Dengue efficacy trial. To date, it is the largest clinical trial for Takeda and shows our commitment to the health needs of billions of people worldwide. Additionally, our bold Access to Medicines (AtM) strategy expands access to life-saving medicines throughout Latin America, South East Asia, and Africa.
Research and Development: A World-Class Innovation Engine
There is excitement around the revitalization and transformation of R&D at Takeda. Our researchers and scientists strive to bring daring breakthroughs from the lab to patients. While concentrated in 16 sites, our R&D team is intensely focused on making an impact worldwide. Our R&D transformation is vital to providing Takeda with the agility to drive innovation, conduct internal and external research, enhance partnerships, create collaborations, and improve R&D productivity for long-term, sustainable growth.
Corporate Functions: When Teams Succeed, Patients Benefit
Here, we build strong, borderless and empowered teams. Together with our therapeutic area, vaccines, and R&D colleagues, employees working in corporate functions help serve the needs of patients and make an impact on people’s lives. Around the globe, we offer opportunities in:
