Job Description

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

  • Under direction of Senior Trademark Counsel (STMC), assists with TPIZ-originated trademark (TM)  priority filings, along with TM prosecution and and maintenance activities relating toTakeda ex-U.S. trademark (TM) registration and maintenance.  Also assists on a world-wide basis with certain legacy Takeda U.S. (and certain legacy Shire) TM paralegal matters.   
  • As directed by STMC, assists in the filing, docketing and maintenance of TM applications as described above;
  • As directed by STMC, assists with daily TPIZ TM administrative tasks, including correlating/filing TPIZ TM correspondence.
  • Review, add and update data in the global workflow system.
  • Under guidance of STMC,coordinates daily TM activities with Boston TM paralegals to ensure uniformity of practice and protection of TM assets.
  • Serves as the focal point of daily requests at TPIZ for administrative requests regarding tradmarks, copyrights and related IP rights.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

DIMENSIONS AND ASPECTS

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

  • 3-10 years experience as European trademark paralegal tasks, ideally with a strong background in agreement management.
  • Preferably, working Anaqua docketing system.  Facility with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).  Experience with budget-related tasks (invoices etc.).
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • German native speaker and fluency in English language is required.

Leadership

  • Ability to assist with global trademark paralegal tasks; ability to learn fundamentals of global TM regulations.

Decision-making and Autonomy

  • Ability to work under direction of STMC, and assist Boston TM colleagues, to implement tasks described above. Ability to handle routine paralegal/administrative tasks independently.

Innovation

  • Ability to suggest helpful channges in paralegal/administrative processes.

Complexity

  • Ablitity to prioritize, organize and deal with complex tasks as described above.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • University degree (bachelor, master, diploma)
  • Qualified to work as paralegal as described above
  • 3-10 or more years paralegal experience in private practice or in-house trademark/IP department

Preferred:

  • Experience in one or more law firms/biopharma firms working with an international IP perspective

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Able to work independently on new assignments
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Able to influence and work successfully with varied audiences
  • Able to assist with selected intellectual property projects on behalf of Takeda

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time
  • All applicants must hold an EU passport or a Swiss Work Permit
