Job Description

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

  • The VMWare/Wintel Administrator will be responsible for the technical support of Takeda’s  managed enterprise Wintel environment
  • The key area of focus will include developing standards, technology roadmaps, capacity planning, process development and monitoring
  • Role also includes creation of processes, policies and procedures related to the VMWare/Wintel infrastructure platform
  • Assist in the development of architectural standards and ensure common architecture decisions are implemented consistently across Service / Core teams

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Collaborate with Service Owners to define future service offerings based on customer demand, Functional portfolio / architecture, industry trends, and cost pressures
  • Gain acceptance of architecture standards and blueprints by engaging with Service Owners, Head of Hosting & Cloud Services, Plan/Build lead, , IT Functional Leads, Managed Service Providers and other relevant stakeholders
  • Promote appropriate use of and adherence to reference architectures when developing new services
  • Provide consulting expertise during build, test and deploy phases to shape and guide development of services offered by service teams
  • Actively communicate with service teams to understand status and delivery of all services
  • Advocate standard architecture when working with customers on new builds
  • Define and Mmaintain servicece architecture principles, policies and standards, and ensure governance
  • Identify major technology trends and competitive forces relevant to Virtualization to address customer needs
  • Execute the technology refresh and upgrades
  • Capacity planning and procurement recommendations

  • Provide technical feedback in the design and configuration of the required architecture and map business requirements to systems/technical requirements

  • Develop processes, procedures and cost-effective technical solutions to support and improve systems
  • Implement, and support advanced and diverse technical solutions that address complex business requirements
  • Research technology solutions to meet business needs
  • Identify and implement process improvements in the architecture and/or infrastructure of existing systems
  • Prepare business requirements, system assessments, project and process assessments, and implementation documentation for technical projects
  • Manage level 1 managed service partners in an oversight and escalation role
  • Provide level 2 and 3 support for incidents as well and proactive health analysis

DIMENSIONS AND ASPECTS

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

  • Knowledge of IT Computer Systems Validation processes (required)
  • Pharmaceuticals or Life Sciences experience with knowledge of qualification/validation processes (preferred)
  • Possess and maintain broad technical and business knowledge of all aspects of the service
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale technology refresh programs of both physical and virtual infrastructure
  • Experience in large-scale Data center migrations/consoldiation programs

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum 5 years experiences with System Administration: Windows 2008-2019, file/print services
  • Experience with the following: Windows DFS, VMWare 6.x or higher, Cisco UCS, EMC Avamar/Data Domain / IDPA, VM-aware storage (VAS) storage such as Tintri
  • Ability to communicate and influence all levels
  • Proven experience in a large, geographically diverse team of technical resources
  • Deep knowledge in hybrid service reference architecture, orchestration, compute, storage, networking, database management and information security
  • Ability to transform customer requirements into technology requirements
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and resolve issues on potentially complex VWMare/Wintel deployments
  • Outstanding presentation, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries to deliver results
  • Experience with software validation/lifecycle in a regulated environment
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment with strict change control policies
  • Preferred job related Certifications: Microsoft Certified Professional, VMWare Certified Professional
  • Business level language capability for both English and Japanese (Native Level) is required
