We have an excellent opportunity for a high performing Head of Business Excellence. The selected candidate will be responsible for the plant strategic planning processes, the project management office, the site training program and the implementation and oversight of the operational excellence program AGILE 4.0, long range site planning, annual strategic review, and site capacity. Works with site and global leadership to evaluate and ensure the best use of resources in defining and planning site targets, KPI’s, objectives and programs to achieve the strategic plan in alignment with the Biologics Operations Unit. The selected candidate must provide thought leadership and demonstrated ability to coach and influence at the executive level and across the broader organization. In addition, the selected candidate must have a proven track record of ensuring safety, quality, delivery and cost are achieved in support of the business strategy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Spearhead annual strategic planning activities for the plant.
Foster functional business units in their strategic assessments and development/review of their long-term strategies.
Prepares plant for strategic reviews with Takeda senior management.
Guides plant through in-depth analysis of key strategic issues as well as complex investigations.
Leads the creation of a long range site strategy and manages the resulting long range plan which includes but is not limited to capacity, operation, staffing and capital investment.
Builds and maintains the site Dynamic Modeling Process to assess capacity opportunities/risks, financial opportunities/risks and headcount opportunities/risks.
Builds, tests, and analyzes business case for long range strategic opportunities. Provides strategic link with division business excellence. Directs, manages, and deploys the Project Management Office and business processes.
Directs, manages, and deploys the OPEX organization to drive improvements in facility wide operation excellence, “AGILE 4.0” criteria, and continuous improvement culture.
Develop a talented team to drive successful integration of objectives. Coaches and develops staff.
Champion the plant KPI governance process. Owns the implementation of digital solutions in conjunction with IT.
Drive strategies for improvements through coordination with Manufacturing Science teams and from the data gathered in manufacturing operations.
Responsible for resolving complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Must execute judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Consistently display personal accountability and integrity while working effectively and efficiently within a team environment
Drive engagement and retention by creating a positive culture through the Takeda Thousand Oaks values.
Owns the site training program and resources.
Responsible for implementing and improving this process to ensure compliance and operational execution.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment.
Strong leadership and technical skills required.
Has a thorough understanding of quality assurance and quality management.
Has a thorough understanding of quality control including assay method development and assay method transfer.
Has knowledge of cGMPs for biologics and small volume parenteral products.
Needs excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Has the ability to work multifunctional, global teams within the organization.
Prior experience in managing and developing staff and budget accountability.

Education and/or Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, engineering or science/technology.
Master’s degree in finance, marketing, business or science/technology preferred.
Requires ten years of business experience and five years of management experience.
Must be able to work in controlled environments requiring gowning.
No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the production environment.
May be working in a loud area that requires hearing protection and other protective equipment to be worn.
Pace may be fast paced and job completion demands may be high
Inside working conditions.
In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.
