Job Description

OBJECTIVES: 

  • Non-demand driving commercial field team responsible for profiling, identifying and creating meaningful and productive relationships across therapeutic area experts and Takeda through fair balanced and marketplace discussions.
  • Outreach among key identified targets to drive disease state awareness and education of the EoE population.
  • Captures, synthesizes and shares key Thought Leader (TL) insights to help shape brand strategy through informed decision making.
  • Identifies evidence gaps across product and disease education through appropriate Key Opinion Leader (KOL) discussions and podium observations.
  • Creates opportunity for KOL congress engagements with executive leadership.
  • Trains, preps and coaches contracted speakers for approved product and disease education programs.
  • Operationalizes commercial advisory boards as identified by individual brand needs.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Utilizes KOL mapping to validate and prioritize appropriate EoE TL targets.
  • Market shaping EOE with disease awareness education among KOLs and emerging TLs.
  • Attends conferences and congresses, acting as a conduit between TLs and commercial teams through executive exchanges with Takeda.
  • Gains understanding of TL beliefs and drivers for treatment decisions through 1:1 interaction, based on compliant on-label product, marketplace and disease discussions.
  • Criteria based customer segmentation in conjunction with brand team.
  • Creates and executes short term and long-term KOL engagement plans.
  • Captures, records and analyzes TL insights and collects competitive intelligence (CI) to identify regional/national trends to inform and shape strategic decisions by the brand team on a timely basis.
  • Identifies, profiles, trains and provides coaching feedback to contracted speakers for approved branded and unbranded speaker programs. Attends select programs, providing timely feedback to ensure speaker accuracy in data delivery and compliant programs.
  • Works in tandem with Med Comm to ensure updated, audience specific program content as well as communicates with 3rd party vendor to ensure all speaker related logistics are accounted for (transportation to program venue, hotel, flights, ground accommodations) as well as timely payment for speaker honoraria and tracking of speaker utilization.
  • Collaborates/communicates with regular cadence all approved information and trends across matrix partners and other internal stakeholders to maximize opportunities for a One-Takeda customer approach.
  • May contract and host advisory boards (live or virtual) in conjunction with the brand team, including assistance with content development to obtain feedback aligned to individual brand objectives.
  • May identify, confirm and assist in securing signed contracts for participants qualified to serve on advisory boards, steering committees and other brand identified KOL contracting needs.
  • Gains pulse on TL alignment through real-time customer segmentation to help the brand prepare for future launches and competitor entry into the marketplace.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required: MBA or advanced degree a plus
  • Minimum of 7 years customer facing pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience (field sales, product marketing, medical or clinical experience in the same or related therapeutic area) is required
  • Minimum of 2 or more years work experience in one or more of the following is required: clinical liaison, thought leader management, marketing or clinical experience in the same or related therapeutic area with experience in creating marketing strategies, plans, and tactics
  • Clinical experience in rare diseases or specialty Biologics strongly preferred
  • Thought Leader or demonstrated KOL leadership experience a plus
  • Proven track record of consistent achievement or exceeding expectations in assigned responsibilities, goals, objectives and any other relevant metrics, especially involving cross functional matrix teams (ie internal partners)
  • Previous experience in multiple commercial functions beneficial
  • Demonstrated experience customizing and executing timely action plans across various initiatives
  • Proficient in Excel, Power Point and similar applications a plus
  • Demonstrates leadership and strategic agility
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate and/or lead cross functional teams
  • Ability to present ideas effectively by consolidating and customizing information
  • Outstanding influence and persuasive aptitude as demonstrated in previous work experiences
  • Strong organizational, analytic and time management planning skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to execute against strategic/tactical plans under tight timelines
  • Exceptional clinical/business acumen
  • Adaptable to changing internal and external environments
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including reflective listening for solutions driven dialogue

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time, inclusive of conferences on weekends, overnight programs as well as attendance at key internal meetings
  • Individual must reside within territory boundaries given the extensive travel arrangements of the TLL role

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Able to sit for long periods at a desk
  • Able to read and review large quantities of printed material or online material
