As a Senior Manager, Market Access working on the Market Access and Integrated Brand team, you will be empowered to implement our value creation and demonstration initiatives that communicate the value Takeda’s products provide, and a typical day will include:

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

  • Seek early engagement from Canadian payers and decision makers on future Takeda pipeline products to provide insights for consideration by Global Clinical teams in the development of the clinical development program
  • Responsible for liaising within the business unit and partnering cross-functionally with colleagues and vendors to clearly demonstrating the value, through evidence generation, interpretation and communication of our products to Canadian payers
  • Reports to the Director of Market Access and is a member of the Integrated Brand Team

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Create and deliver a tactical plan for achieving/maintaining access and in demonstrating and communicating value (including generating real world data/evidence required to support optimal positioning) of Takeda’s products
  • Payer Research: primary and secondary research with payers in targeted countries to understand value perception of our products and to answer specific questions needed to refine access strategies. Includes:
    • Profile landscape to identify evolving trends
    • Identify value drivers and understand payer decision-making
    • Test perceived value of Takeda product profiles and test value message communication with ex payer types
  • Collaborate with medical colleagues to identify, develop and execute plans for collecting real world effectiveness data that supports the securing, maintaining or improving of access, ensuring the relevant inputs have been captured as required for the clinical development program and/or lead initiatives locally in collaboration with Medical to ensure data collection / generation to support optimal positioning and access
  • Work with External Affairs team members to look for opportunities to engage payers (public, private, HTA) on RWE and early engagement of Takeda products
  • With support of the Directors of Market Access and Medical Affairs, identify and build relationships with key influencers of the Global Takeda Clinical Development Program to advocate for the Canadian payer needs to be incorporated into clinical trials
  • Lead development of early engagement dossier and its submission/presentation in collaboration with the therapeutic-relevant Medical and Scientific Affairs colleagues and Global Clinical & Market Access teams
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of provincial and private drug programs to support market access strategies to obtain formulary access for Takeda products
  • Collaborate with the Market Access team and the Director of Pricing & PLA to conduct new product assessments which consider pricing, impact of factors such as clinical program, regulatory status, health economics and market to contribute to the determination of introduction to the Canadian market and to optimize launch through evaluation of price points, PMPRB exposure and market challenges related to market access and reimbursement
  • Develop new product submissions to Health Technology Assessment bodies, Provincial Drug Programs, private insurers and hospitals in accordance with requirements with value propositions that optimize market accessibility of Takeda products
  • Consult on the development of Product Listing Agreement (PLA) public and private negotiation strategy in consultation with Director Pricing & PLA and in collaboration with Finance and Sales/Marketing
  • Participate in presentations of submissions to HTA agencies and with External Affairs team lead to payers as needed
  • Participate either as a delegate of Director, Market Access as co-lead negotiator with External Relations team lead OR as support for PLA discussions
  • Assist with strategic brand planning for market access planning for new and existing products and provides input into broader marketing plan including development of critical success factors and execution of required tactical plans
  • In collaboration with the broader Market Access team, develop and execute plans that maximize commercialization opportunities strategy and documents that support reimbursement and that are aligned with local, global medical, marketing, and communication goals
  • Provide support to External Affairs on implementation of market access plans through preparation of research and presentation of a range of information and data with potential payers to influence positive results
  • Represent market access on assigned cross functional teams, with internal groups such as Marketing, Medical and Commercial Excellence in support of initiatives to optimize product availability (e.g., access programs post launch, clinical practice guidelines, drug utilization review protocols)
  • Responsible for ensuring a thorough understanding of Takeda’s Code of Ethical Practices, IMC Code of Ethics, and Takeda’s SOPs are strictly adhered to, upholding a commitment to compliance and operates with integrity within all business objectives.  Promotes and conducts the affairs of the company with the highest standards of integrity, probity and corporate governance, demonstrating commitment to the values of Takeda-ism

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree (sciences, economics, political science or public administration).  Post-graduate experience (training or degree) in a related field an asset
  • Solid experience (3+ years for Manager; 5+ years for Senior Manager) in pharmaceutical reimbursement/market access, including competency in health technology assessment and healthcare analytics
  • Strong understanding of the therapeutic areas and disease management and current pharmaceutical industry, payer and market access environment
  • Understanding of the specialty pharma business model and the overall healthcare environment
  • Ability to effectively translate clinical evidence to a scientific value proposition to address the unmet needs of the payer
  • Demonstrates an entrepreneurial attitude; Business ownership: pursues ideas and projects that ensure sustainable, long-term success despite odds with perseverance

**Role Level for incumbent will be determined by overall experience and capabilities

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel to regular meetings or client sites, including overnight trips and some international travel, as required
