The Head of Manufacturing leads the Neuchâtel manufacturing operations - line A,B,C and the Fill/Finishing Area as well as the Manufacturing Support Group which consists of the Event/Deviation and Change control Groups, the Documentation and Planning team, as well as the cleaning and Environment Monitoring team.

Main accountabilities :

  • Responsible for providing leadership guidance to the manufacturing  teams for  Line A, B, C, the Fill/Finishing Area as well as the Manufacturing  Support Group (consisting of the Event/Deviation and Change control Groups, the Documentation and Planning team, as well as the Cleaning and EM team).
  • Responsible for the hiring and training of new workforce.
  • Responsible for manufacturing operations and fulfillment of all quality systems and policies.
  • Manage shift operations in routine.
  • Responsible for managing the Department budget and fulfillment of the budget targets.
  • Responsible for ensuring the fulfillment of all legal and EHS requirements.
  • Training and development of the team to make sure that the Department can fulfill all goals and the Takeda culture are met.
  • Managing of projects for the department to ensure both milestones and budgets are met.
  • To liaise with other Departments to ensure smooth operation and fulfillment of production goals.
  • To liaise with other Manufacturing plants as well as with the Takeda GMS organization.
  • To represent Manufacturing and the Plant in all internal and external audits.
  • Ensure the continuous improvement of all processes and workflows to yield stable, lean and efficient manufacturing and business processes as well as an efficient and lean organization.
  • Ensure that the production and storage fulfills all quality requirements and specifications and is appropriately documented.
  • Ensure that the appropriate controls and approval mechanisms are in place to ensure the fulfillment of all internal and external requirements.
  • Ensure that the appropriate validations are done and that the production environment and storage areas are controlled and monitored.
  • Ensure that personnel is appropriately trained and qualified and the plant and equipment are maintained and fit for use.
  • Ensure the fulfillment of all department and Plant level goals related to and influenced by the manufacturing organization.
  • Ensure and monitor the compliance to all requirements of current Good Manufacturing Practice
  • Coach and counsel team members to establish a strong leadership pipeline and succession planning to ensure a stable and sustainable organization.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Life Science or Engineering.
  • >8 years of experience in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing/Quality with at least 6 years in a leadership position within a multi-national organization. At least 1 year is in the area of manufacturing of drug products.
  • Recombinant Manufacturing Experience and Experience in Aseptic fill Finishing.
  • Thorough knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and general
  • Technical and biologic understanding.

Decisions with a larger impact regarding production volumes, financial spending, product value need to be aligned with the respective stakeholders
