Job Description
Objectives of position:
The Capital Projects Manager is recognized within Takeda as a subject matter expert (SME) for the Madrid Cell Therapy Technology Center with respect to all Capital portfolio management and project delivery activities being responsible of all capital program and project activities within the Site Engineering function.
Role will establish an efficient capital delivery organization focusing on right first-time delivery and following industry best practices to meet the strategic needs of the Takeda Madrid Cell Therapy Technology Center, ensuring that all capital projects result in fit for purpose assets which meet the business requirements (safety, quality, functionality, capacity, capability, reliability) in a timely and cost-effective manner
The position will ensure that adequate technical and numerical support is provided to the capital projects team to assure the success of all capital projects under control.
Role may serve as individual contributor as Project Sponsor, Project manager, and Engineering Lead role on any given project.
Key Accountabilities
Establish capital project program and establish mechanisms to ensure that the projects are prioritized against the business goals
Responsible for the tracking and control of Site CAPEX budget in line with Takeda’s strategic plans.
Consult with site stakeholders to ensure their current and future capital needs are identified and defined in terms of value, timelines and criticality to the business (compliance, continuity, effectiveness and profitability)
Challenge the site stakeholder’s potential capital needs with respect to their value and alignment with the business goals
Lead the initial planning of potential capital projects (feasibility / concept stage) ensuring that user business and functional requirements are identified, challenged and clarified to ensure that a robust business charter can be defined and approved by the key stakeholders
May serve as project manager and/or Engineering Lead on large size projects which may exceed 5M€
Initiate and lead the long-range planning activities (including AIMP requirements) for all capital projects associated with the facility and review / amend as necessary to meet the current, emerging and future business needs
Fulfill all relevant compliance, safety and quality requirements by focusing on right first-time principles and using compliance as a competitive advantage.
Fulfill all legal and EHS requirements as they relate to capital projects, permitting and approvals
Responsible for the successful execution of both CAPEX and OPEX projects assigned.
Coordinate the planning, monitoring and reporting of all capital projects associated with the facility
Hire as necessary contingent professionals needed to define, plan and execute the portfolio as necessary
Consult and seek alignment with the other engineering site functions
Manage the resource loading of the capital projects portfolio providing adequate visibility of needs to all stakeholders and providing development opportunities for site-based staff as appropriate
Provide strategic direction for the development and improvement of site project procedures, tools, and templates (Organizational Process Assets) and ensure site and project teams are effectively utilizing these assets.
Provide technical and project management mentoring.
Role is accountable for all phases and project lifecycle requirements including but not limited to: developing and controlling: project business case justification, scope, budget, schedule, quality, risk, procurement, resources, project information, and communications.
Consult and coordinate with Capital Projects representatives within Global Engineering to share lessons learned and best practices
Responsible for internal communication to the project team, stakeholder and Management
Represent the Engineering Capital Project function in all internal and external audits
Responsibility to adhere to any applicable EHS requirements.
