Job Overview

Facilitates management of Strategy and Business Excellence function and influences GMS Business Excellence function and practices. Ensures SBE function is properly supported in terms of budgeting and financial tracking. Leads SBE performance management efforts. Interacts cross functionally with Business Operations leaders throughout GMS to ensure business operations are performed effectively and are aligned with Takeda’s goals.

Budgeting and Financial Tracking: Facilitates SBE budgeting and financial tracking processes.

Goal Setting: Facilitates SBE goal setting and performance management processes.

Business Reporting: Tracks and reports on SBE activities and programs.

Leadership Team Facilitation: leads global leadership team meetings, preparation and execution, activities and communications.

GMS Business Coordination: Point of contact for coordination of business operations topics with other GMS organizations. Runs the GMS Business Excellence Network.

Organizational Execution & Performance: Support Head of SBE with performance improvement of the SBE function. Contribute to the organizational evolution by leading execution of departmental plans on behalf of department head.

Special Assignments/projects


Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise(Breadth and depth of knowledge, application and complexity of technical knowledge)

Requires understanding of bio/pharmaceutical businesses, business processes and how a global supply organization operates.

Experience in strategic planning and project management.

Financial acumen is key.

Leadership(Vision, strategy and business alignment, people management, communication, influencing others, managing change)

A key member of the SBE Leadership Team. Works internally with members of the Business Excellence team and interacts cross functionally with Business Operations leaders throughout GMS and associated functions. Interacts with other members of the SBE Leadership Team and with R&D or Commercial partners.

Innovation(The required level of scientific knowledge, knowledge sharing, innovation and risk taking)

Enlists sound judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Complexity(Products managed, mix of businesses, internal and/or external business environment, cultural considerations)

Determines appropriate operating mechanisms to achieve goals and objectives. Escalates issues regarding level of engagement with other functions.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:(List the essential and desirable education and competency requirements to perform the primary responsibilities of the job.  Any minimum requirements should be noted.)

Essential:  BS / BA degree in Engineering, Science or Business Administration and at least 10 years’ experience in a bio/pharmaceutical industry or professional consulting.  Strong technical and analytical skills and a track record of success working in a team-based environment. Operational Excellence experience a plus.

Desired:. Advanced Degree
