Therapy Area Lead - Hematology

Key Responsibilities

Drive Medical Strategy and Plans aligned with business and marketing for existing products and new launches; Support the business by contributing to strategy, providing state of the art medical and scientific inputs in Hematology.

Actively participates in cross-functional team working across the Medical, Compliance, Regulatory and Business, especially the Medical/marketing interface, to optimise the therapeutic area product support in Hematology.

Focus on clinical outreach programs -Design/provide medical content for the Marketing team and strategize dissemination of therapy-related communication to support brand management.

To be the repository of clinical knowledge for the Company in the country; to liaise with the appropriate members of the global and regional franchise medical affairs function so as to facilitate migration and assimilation of clinical data, findings and trends.

Build scientific relationship and network with KOLs, building brand loyalty, adding business value at the medical/marketing interface in Hemophilia, and reinforcing Takeda’s image within the Healthcare industry

Create advisory board and clinical investigator base for products in Hemophilia with the capability of providing expert medical advice and engage HCPs through various planned scientific activities and share emerging data in a reactive, scientific, objective and balanced way.

Driver of strategic clinical studies for franchise. Brings in investigator-initiated studies to Medical Affairs. Follow through with investigators up to publication / presentation.

Contribute to the design and management of clinical trials in the pursuit of competitive product advantage; drive clinical studies (Phase-IV, PMS, IIS), Registry in collaboration with Clinical Team to create database of clinical outcomes.

Work with HCPs as partners in scientific activities that help advance disease understanding such as clinical trials, including scientific support, site selection and operational issues or feasibility assessments (at the request of clinical operations)

Collaborates in setting up of HTC as well enhancements of Standard of Care at a national level.

Shares medical information and high-level educational scientific information and clinical guidelines with national KOLs from time to time.

Ensure that activities in the Medical Affairs therapeutic area comply with standards for clinical governance and duty of care within the business.

Provide comprehensive & effective medical training to field force in order to enhance sales force effectiveness. Improve in-clinic efficiency of field force through query addressal and field coaching on scientific concerns; Analyze and provide information on HCP queries in support of field staff

Research and analyse trends and activity in the industry, updating own knowledge on a continuous basis in order to build awareness and understanding of Takeda products, therapy areas, and the pharmaceutical market

Compliance to Takeda Guidelines and Quality Standards

Ensure that appropriate standards and policies are assured for all relevant technical aspects of the company’s activities in the Medical & Clinical Affairs Therapeutic Area; Review and approve all promotional material; medical and commercial activities including internal and external engagements such as CME; Scientific Symposium; Advisory Board etc. and ensure appropriate product claims are made.

Delivers balanced, fair non-promotional presentations related with advances in disease knowledge, diagnosis and treatment of competitor as well as own products.

Ensure that all activities in the business / therapy area comply with medical governance standards, regulatory requirements, Takeda’s policies and duty of care

To oversee coordination between the Field Medical Affairs team and Regulatory Affairs, Government Affairs and Quality Assurance, for resolution of regulatory and quality related issues

People Management & Development

Recruit, train and mentor Field Medical Science Liaisons; effectively manage the performance of the team and conduct performance appraisal of the team members

To proactively identify learning needs of the team members and drive capability development initiatives (including training)

To encourage team to develop in-depth and current knowledge of Health care industry, with a specific focus on therapy area products, trends, etc.

To strengthen inter-team communication, engender good team dynamics and resolve internal issues as required
