T-CiRA Discovery organizes T-CiRA, a 10-year joint research program by Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA), Kyoto University, and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited.

With the uniqueness of that academic researchers work at Takeda’s laboratories together with its industrial researchers, T-CiRA aims to realize cutting-edge iPSC applications such as cell therapies, drug discoveries, and platform technologies to cure rare, intractable diseases that currently have no established effective treatments.

T-CiRA Discoveryは、京都大学iPS細胞研究所(CiRA)と武田薬品工業株式会社による10年間の共同研究プログラム「T-CiRA」を主催しています。



iPS-cell derived human liver organoid (HLO) which recapitulates the complex phenomena of human tissue. Using patient derived iPS-cell, we can generate similar condition on injured tissue using our organoid technique under supervised by a global leader of this area, Professor Takanori Takebe of Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. The goal of our research is to explore novel mechanisms and agents for multiple diseases not only liver diseases but also other diseases with high unmet medical needs using iPS cell derived human organoid technique. Currently, we are conducting various research on gastric-intestin related disease, rare disease and drug induced liver injury.

Understands project's strategy, creates research plan with Prof. Takebe and team members using iPS cell-derived miniature liver.

Establish assay methods collaborating with internal/external partners such as rare disease drug discovery unit (DDU), gastric-intestine DDU, and CRO such as Axceleed to drive the project.

Publish research articles and submit patents on research results vigorously. Makes presentations at international and domestic conferences and T-CiRA monthly meeting.

Foster and facilitate business mind and opportunity to transfer our research platform and drug candidates for internal and external stakeholders.


  • iPS細胞由来肝オルガノイド技術を用いてプロジェクトの戦略と研究計画を武部教授と立案し、チームメンバーとこれを実行する。
  • 適切な薬剤評価系を構築し、社内外のパートナー、例えばアクセリード社や消化器疾患希少疾患創薬研究ユニットと協働してプロジェクトを遂行する。
  • 研究結果に基づく成果を精力的に論文化特許化する。国内外学会ならびにT-CiRA月報会において研究成果を発表する。
  • 研究結果として得られた薬剤候補や実験系プラットフォームを社内ステークホルダーや社外に移管してビジネス化できるよう、自身の企業家精神を醸成する。



Master degree, PhD preferred



Experience and skills on cell differentiation method, faboritely iPSC.

Enough experience in in vitro experiments, or histochemical analysis

Experience or knowledge to demonstrate organ-on-chip derived cell culture systems.

Experience of bioinformatics analysis.                                                              


Experiences to conduct CRSPR-Cas9 technique derived gene-editing experiment using new modality of genetic transduction such as lipid nano particle (LNP).                                                                                                   

Knowledge on organoid using multiple cell culture, favorably iPSC, liver biology and rare disease pathology.

Experiences to conduct in vitro proof of concept study for drug evaluation.                                                                                         

High motivation on developing and evaluating novel therapies using in vitro/vivo disease models.
