T-CiRA Discovery organizes T-CiRA, a 10-year joint research program by Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA), Kyoto University, and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited.

With the uniqueness of that academic researchers work at Takeda’s laboratories together with its industrial researchers, T-CiRA aims to realize cutting-edge iPSC applications such as cell therapies, drug discoveries, and platform technologies to cure rare, intractable diseases that currently have no established effective treatments.

About This Job:

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a severe muscular disease caused by genetic mutations in the Dystrophin gene. We recently showed that the combination of the CRISPR-Cas9 technology and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery system is effective for correcting a Dystrophin mutation in DMD model mice. Based on these results, we are conducting pre-clinical studies to develop in vivo genome editing therapy as a conceptually novel “genome surgery” approach for treating DMD patients. We seek a highly motivated candidate who will participate in developing and optimizing LNP delivery systems for CRISPR-Cas9 tools.

  • Understand the project's strategies, create the research plans by discussing with PI (Dr. Akitsu Hotta, Kyoto University CiRA) and the project members, and contribute achievements by actively engaging in experiments.

  • Optimize the LNP-CRISPR system for DMD treatment in the animal models.

  • Build collaboration with internal and external colleagues and lead the team.

  • Timely share the progress.

デュシェンヌ型筋ジストロフィー(DMD)は、ジストロフィン遺伝子の変異により生じる致死性の筋疾患です。これまでに、我々はCRISPR‐Cas 9技術と脂質ナノ粒子(LNP)デリバリーシステムを組み合わせることによって、DMDモデルマウスにおけるジストロフィン変異の修復に成功しました。これらの結果に基づいて、現在DMD治療薬の新規な治療コンセプトとなる 「genome surgery」 アプローチとして、in vivoゲノム編集治療薬の開発に挑戦しています。CRISPR‐Cas 9ツールに最適なLNPデリバリーシステムの開発と最適化に挑戦する高いモチベーションのある候補者を探しています。

  • プロジェクトの戦略を理解し、PI(京都大学iPS細胞研究所・堀田秋津先生)やプロジェクトメンバーと議論しながら研究計画を立案する。また、その研究計画に基づいて、積極的に実験を実施し、プロジェクト遂行に貢献する。

  • 動物モデルを用いて、DMD治療薬開発に最適なLNP‐CRISPRシステムを開発する。

  • 社内外のメンバーとの良好な協力関係を構築し、構築したチームをリードする。

  • 進捗をタイムリーに報告する。



PhD or equivalent in Biology, Pharmacokinetics or Biomaterials field.

Biology、Pharmacokinetics or Biomaterials分野のPhD、または同等の専門的な技術・知識を有する研究者


  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of in vivo delivery methods, such as tissue specific delivery.

  • Good communication and presentation skills in English, and communication ability in Japanese.
