Job Description

OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

  • As a key member of the Global Oncology Pricing Center of Excellence, develop industry-leading operational pricing and reporting capabilities to drive visibility and insights on pricing trends, inform key strategic pricing decisions and their impact on Takeda’s revenues for Oncology assets

  • Engage in key Global Pricing projects for inline and pipeline brands to advance the strategic capabilities of the OBU and inform key pricing and access decisions (e.g. Global Pricing Guidance, Value-Based Contracts)

  • Establish, develop and leverage new pricing analytics approaches, platforms and tools   

  • Lead pricing operations activities for target products to ensure adherence to the global Oncology pricing policies and procedures, and manage key projects across the organization

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead qualitative and quantitative pricing analysis in partnership with LOC, Regional and Global Teams, share insights as a result of the analysis and provide robust recommendations to internal stakeholders, while ensuring superior customer satisfaction by delivering high end quality outputs

  • Drive strong pricing and financial discipline through competitive pricing landscape, analogue assessments and key pricing assumptions for inline and early assets to inform price forecasting

  • Monitor prices for select Oncology inline medicines; this includes ensuring the integrity and accuracy within Takeda’s Price Management System

  • Manage internal pricing analytics platforms and reporting systems to effectively execute on price modelling, reference pricing impact analysis and business case evaluations

  • Leverage multiple data sources to support the development and updating of comprehensive global pricing policies for both inline and launch assets

  • Monitor and inform relevant stakeholders on key regulations and emerging external pricing dynamics that impact pricing for Oncology assets globally and be the go-to point of contact for Global pricing insights and trends

  • Collaborate with the Global Value & Access Oncology team to ensure that the appropriate insights and perspective with regards to pricing dynamics are factored into strategies and tactics

  • Drive the development of pricing models, leveraging complete understanding of different pricing approaches in different countries, value-based pricing and price negotiations.

  • Leverage strong analytical capabilities and experience in analyzing complex situations to develop analysis from multiple sources, synthesize into clear and concise information that is responsive to business needs

  • Institute best practices to solidify the Global Oncology Pricing Center of Excellence

CORE ELEMENTS RELATED TO THIS ROLE

  • This is a varied role offering the opportunity to work closely with key stakeholders in Takeda’s global, regional and local Patient Value & Access Oncology teams, across the entire Oncology portfolio.

  • The professional development opportunity for this role is to create organizational excellence in Oncology pricing operations and analytics globally, while engaging on a range of strategic topics (e.g. pricing strategies at launch, value-based contracts, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge and deep understanding of the current and emerging global pricing environment in the pharma/biotech business, and strong analytical skills for conducting appropriate analyses to support pricing decisions across Takeda’s Oncology portfolio

  • Excellent presentation skills and an ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders

  • Ability to interact in a simple structured manner with internal stakeholders to enable team alignment in the implementation of pricing operations activities

  • To be successful in this role, the candidate has to demonstrate high self-drive as well as the capacity to handle complex matters independently and propose innovative solutions

  • The position is cross-functional in nature and is part of a highly matrixed organization, working on a wide range of needs and issues

  • Internal contacts: Global Patient Value & Access Oncology team, Patient Value & Access Oncology Growth and Emerging Markets region, Global Oncology Forecasting, Global Oncology Scientific & Competitive Analysis, IT Oncology Business Unit, Global Oncology Regulatory, Global Supply Chain, Local Operating Companies, Pricing group for other Takeda therapeutic areas

  • Knowledge sharing – provide pricing expertise and insights to the Global Patient Value & Access Oncology team as well as other functions as needed

  • Works on abstract problems across functional areas of the business. Identifies and evaluates fundamental issues for major functional areas through assessment of intangible variables.

  • Works on multiple brands at different stages in the product lifecycle 

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Minimum qualifications / requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably within Business, Finance, Economics or related field

  • Master’s degree or an advanced degree is preferred

  • Minimum of 5-7  years of relevant experience within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry or consulting

  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of one or more pricing & reimbursement systems in key markets

  • Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage execution

  • Highly collaborative; ability to manage multiple stakeholders across different geographies

  • Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize to successfully manage multiple projects/priorities

  • Ability to translate business requirements into effective IT-enabled solutions

  • Exceptional skills with regards to Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint) and management of large datasets. Experience with reporting tools (e.g. Tableau, QlikView)

Additional qualifications:

  • Previous experience within a global/regional role is a plus

  • Experience in Oncology is a plus

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn the impact of international reference pricing, cross-indication referencing and affordability considerations and solutions (e.g. tiered pricing), managed entry schemes

  • Ability to assimilate pricing and reimbursement insights to inform future pricing decisions

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Periodic international travel required (~5%)
