OBJECTIVES

  • A member of the Quality Auditing & Supplier Management and BioLife Quality leadership teams, this function will promote and align strategic thinking and innovative approaches in BioLife Quality and Quality Auditing & Supplier Management to help evolve these organizations in line with the GQ vision and roadmap.
  • Provide leadership to the Global Quality Leadership Team initiatives, aligned with the GQ roadmap, communications plan and enterprise needs.
  • Oversight for Quality projects / project management in conjunction with Global SBO leader
  • Strategy: Lead the development of the BioLife Quality and Quality Auditing & Supplier Management approaches in alignment with the GQ Roadmap, including long- and mid-range plans aligned to growth/pipeline development, network strategy and business imperatives.  This includes working with leaders on the annual MRP/MYC processes, and leading goal setting and quarterly reporting.
  • Project Management: Provide oversight of project deliverable in Quality Auditing & Supplier Management Quality including process improvement organizational change considerations, and ensuring the Operating Model is fully implemented. This role also has oversight for all Quality projects as agreed with GQLT/Global Head of SBO.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Strategy: Lead the development of the BioLife Quality and Quality Auditing & Supplier Management approaches in alignment with the GQ Roadmap, including long- and mid-range plans aligned to growth/pipeline development, network strategy and business imperatives.  This includes working with leaders on the annual MRP/MYC processes, and leading goal setting and quarterly reporting.
  • Project Management: Provide oversight of project deliverables in Quality Auditing & Supplier Management Quality including process improvement organizational change considerations, and ensuring the Operating Model is fully implemented. This role also has oversight for all Quality projects as agreed with GQLT/Global Head of SBO.
  • Engagement: Support head Quality Auditing & Supplier Management Quality in leadership team dynamics and engagement. Work with Head of SBO to design and execute the annual Quality Academy.
  • Change Management: Lead the design, development, and implementation of various, broad change/transformation and continuous improvement initiatives to reflect the Quality business in Quality Auditing & Supplier Management Quality such as OPEX, use of lean tools and remediation programs.
  • Organizational Capability: Supports building organizational capability to deliver long-term objectives for science, systems, and people.  This includes embedding a Quality Culture that focuses on patients, instilling a learning environment, and general project management oversight.
  • Communication: Works closely with the Global Head of Quality Communications function to ensure timely updates on progress in support of the GQ Roadmap and key projects outside of integration. Aligns project communications plan with the broader communications plan for GQ.

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

  • Ability to develop local strategy, goals and objectives in support of the GQ roadmap to enable Takeda to fulfill its commitment to quality within its overall vision  (project oversight and deliverables, Change and Organizational Capabilities, Strategic planning, reporting).

Leadership

  • An understanding of industry, scientific and regulatory trends and market conditions, to help develop mid- and long-term strategy
  • Alignment with Quality Auditing & Supplier Management leaders, and with Global Head of Quality SBO, Integration Lead, GQ HR, Finance, Communications, and the Quality SBO leadership team; also will partner with the head of BioLife Quality as needed
  • Help build a patient-centered best in class organization, with diverse talent that elevates organizational performance

Decision-making and Autonomy

  • Accountability for decisions on the day to day operation of this function that align with the roadmap and Quality Auditing & Supplier Management Quality & BioLife Quality goals/objectives, and for other business imperatives as assigned.
  • Decisions are important and impact employees throughout Takeda

Interaction

  • Alignment with Quality Auditing & Supplier Management leaders, BioLife Quality leaders and with Global Head of Quality SBO, Integration Lead, GQ HR, Finance, Communications, and the Quality SBO leadership team
  • Launch PMO network to engage project leaders and ensure lessons learned / lack of project duplication to expedite results globally.

  • A solid grasp of industry, scientific and regulatory trends, understands market conditions, and develops strategies with Quality Auditing & Supplier Management / BioLife Quality colleagues to maintain Takeda’s regulatory profile in alignment with Global Quality efforts.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

Education / experience

  • Scientific or Business degree
  • 10+ years of increasing management responsibility combined with strong technical operations background and PMO experience.
  • Awareness across all of the Quality disciplines (QA, QC, Systems and Compliance, Services and Improvement) and working in an international environment
  • Effective financial acumen and competencies to help GQ Leaders in Quality client group optimize mid/large organization
  • Lean six sigma tools - greenbelt/black belt preferred
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
