As a Director, R&D Resource Management working on the Center of Operational Performance team, you will be empowered as the business owner of the central resource management capabilities and solutions for R&D, leading and innovating to drive productivity and efficiency efforts, and a typical day will include:
POSITION OBJECTIVES
Responsible for directing the strategic and operational resource management activities as a part of R&D Center of Operational Performance (CoOP) team, to support the TA, BU and DDU to make sound resource decisions
Oversee integrated resourcing processes including supply, demand, capacity to support long term portfolio objectives and facilitate scenario planning and tradeoff decision at the R&D governance level
Strategic partner to Therapeutic Area Units (TAUs), Functions and the teams’ line function representatives to 'pressure-test' assumptions, drive scenario planning / trade off analysis and integrate cross functional planning across development into the overall resourcing plan
Lead and manage initiatives related to resource management best practices and provides input to R&D strategy and portfolio gaps
Collaborate and partner across R&D driving productivity and efficiency efforts
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop strategy and provides leadership and expertise with respect to resource management analytics, reviews, and decision-making across R&D
Facilitate governance reviews and leadership decision makings on the portfolio level resourcing plan
Organize and execute regular resource management reviews to optimize current resource allocations and lead future investment
Oversee the management and forecast of portfolio-level resource plan, including assumptions and constraints, in partnership with the TAUs, Functions, and Finance team members
Measure/monitor resourcing needs against portfolio goals and help drive teams toward delivery to meet business objectives
Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive continuous improvement of R&D resource management and support the growth and professional maturity of the R&D organization
Oversee one direct report in resource management analytics and reporting.
Actively contribute to, lead, and support activities and initiatives designed to advance CoOP goals and objectives
CORE ELEMENTS RELATED TO THIS ROLE
Knowledgeable about the overall R&D portfolio and drug development milestones in order to be strategic in planning, progress oversight, communication, delivering high quality reporting and insights
Expertise in resource management in Pharma R&D organizations of similar size to Takeda
Strong ability to build relationships across R&D as a partner to TAUs, BUs, Finance, and other R&D central organizations
Demonstrated experience in resource management, technologies and processes for forecasting and reviewing supply, demand, capacity
Demonstrated experience with advanced analytical tools/models and decision support platforms
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Advanced degree with MBA, Science or Finance background preferred, not required
10+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry preferred or a related industry with a focus on resource management
Proven track record of leading and driving business process transformation and organizational culture change as well as delivering on programs with complex business deliverables
Track record of successful leadership, management, and development of large, multi-disciplinary globally dispersed teams. Strong judge of talent with the ability to make tough talent decisions.
Previous experience leading a medium to large organization and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders is a plus
