    Takeda Completes Acquisition of ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc., significantly enhancing our global oncology portfolio and reinforcing our commitment to develop medicines for patients living with cancer.

  • Our communities

    Rushing Toward a Cure (RTC) launched in 2006 in partnership with the Patriots Radio Network (WBZ 98.5) and our local chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). With RTC, Takeda Oncology contributes a set financial donation to the LLS for every 100 rushing yards gained by New England during the pre, regular and post-seasons. This money helps fund vital blood cancer research, patient services and education programs.

Responsibilities

OBJECTIVES:
  • Provide strategic leadership within the Protein Sciences department as it grows its role to include a global biologics responsibilities within Takeda
  • Drive development of world-class capabilities through striking an optimal  balance of internal resources and external partnerships
  • Manage effective relationships with internal and external collaborators

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational support to ensure effective Protein Sciences functions
  • Interface with project teams across therapeutic areas to facilitate effective communication, project planning, and management
  • Lead, manage, and develop high performing multi-functional teams including molecular biology, protein expression and purification, and cell line engineering
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure efficient support to drug discovery programs from target research through early clinical development
Qualifications

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Ph.D. degree in molecular biology / biochemistry / protein engineering or a related field and with >10 years of experience in managing protein sciences functions in a pharmaceutical setting
  • Innovative perspective on drug discovery/reagent development, with the ability to translate concepts into action
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge, insight, and expertise on  cutting edge molecular biology / protein engineering strategies for optimal protein production and cell line engineering
  • Demonstrated creative leadership capabilities and proven experience in effectively managing and leading protein sourcing effort
  • Successful track record in operational and people management, as well as in managing external collaborations and CRO relationships
  • Strong organization, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills (oral and writing) are essential
  • Experience managing (senior) scientists in a drug discovery setting
  • Ability to perform in an international pharmaceutical company shaped by multiple cultural perspectives

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attendance at scientific conferences (approx 2 per year)
  • Visits to internal / external collaborators (TBD)
  • Possible occasional travel to Japan
  • Also occasional on-site / off-hours telecommunication
