OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

The Translational Strategy Leader (TSL) will join the Precision and Translational Medicine group within the Oncology Therapeutic Area Unit with the objective of supporting oncology translational strategy as projects move through drug discovery and into early clinical development. You will be bridges the discovery and clinical development organization and aims at supporting projects at the interface between discovery and clinical development and projects in early clinical development. You will focus on projects within the Cold-to-Hot pillar encompassing projects addressing activation of endogenous immunity. Job title will depend on the experience of the candidate.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • The TSL will join the Cold-to-Hot pillar and embed in project teams at project launch and lead the team's translational strategy from preclinical development through early clinical development and ePOC
  • Working with partners in preclinical stage project teams, the TSL will
  • Produce clear, testable translational hypothesis to address unmet need
  • Partner with the project team lead to build the differentiation strategy for the therapeutic and defining the clinical and mechanism of action hypothesis
  • Establish strategy for query of patient datasets to support translational hypothesis
  • Contribute to hypothesis-driven study execution, and data analysis, including identification of most relevant preclinical models
  • Establish stage-appropriate project blueprint for a unique asset to address unmet patient need with essential GNG decisions
  • Contribute to authoring and review of internal stage-gate documents
  • Design and manage external collaborations
  • Working with partners in the clinical stage global project teams, the TSL will
  • Design non-clinical experiments to support biomarker strategy, combination strategy and overall MOA-related translational questions.
  • Contribute to the clinical translational team and work with the global translational lead to support answering specific translational questions
  • Contribute to the analysis and interpretation of clinical biomarker results, evaluation of translational hypothesis based on clinical data, and data-driven generation of new hypotheses with focus on reverse translation
  • Within the Translational Oncology function, the TSL will work with team representatives from the Computational Oncology and Integrated Translational Technologies groups to use patient datasets, patient samples, and diverse methodologies to support the translational strategy. The TSL will also work closely with a Translational Scientific Manager and support functions to implement clinical biomarker strategy.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Requirements

  • PhD degree in a scientific discipline with 8+ years experience , or MS with 12+ years experience, or BS with 14+ years experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of emerging research in immuno-oncology preclinically and clinically
  • Knowledge of the clinical landscape in solid tumors with a good understanding of how immuno-oncology therapeutics are impacting the landscape.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including writing, reviewing and editing scientific documents
  • Work and drive decision-making within a versatile, multi-regional, matrix teams
  • Right attitude (agile, curious, open-minded, "can-do" mindset)

Preferred experience/background

  • Experience in clinical sciences including contribution to clinical trials or to observational clinical studies in an academic or industry setting
  • Track record of success and measurable contribution in moving oncology therapeutic programs forward through preclinical and clinical development in an academic or industry setting
  • Experience in research and development of immuno-oncology therapies
  • Project team leadership or a translational team member role in an industry setting for assets progressing through IND-enabling studies And Phase I/II trials
