As a member of the analytical development team, you will have the opportunity to contribute in multiple development programs. As a Scientist, Flow Cytometry Manager - Cell Therapies  working on the Analytical Development team, you will be empowered to develop, validate and transfer analytical methods to rapidly advance Takeda`s portfolio.


Responsible for maintaining the flow cytometry equipment, conducting training seminars for users under minimal supervision. This position will also support flow cytometry panel design, assay development and high dimensional analysis including, but not limited to, specialized complex experiments with assistance from supervisor as appropriate.


oPerforms the daily maintenance and tracking of flow cytometers.

oHelps users with troubleshooting and contacts service as needed

oCoordinates all activities surrounding the flow cytometers.

oIdentifies project needs, develops panels for various projects in cell therapies.

oDesigns and develops high parameter flow cytometry based assays for BD Symphony.

oTrains users in the operation of cytometer and flowjo analysis software

oProvides support in experimental setup, acquisition, analysis and creates templates on analysis software

oContributes to technical documents such as test methods, reports, protocols, SOP and internal presentations

oContributes significantly in a small team of scientists towards the optimization, qualification and technical transfer of flowcytometry based analytical methods in a compliance-based environment in a timely manner to meet program timelines

oIdentifies and communicates routine technical problems within scope of responsibility 

oContribute scientifically to project team and local initiatives as appropriate

oMakes and understands basic experimental decisions within scope of responsibility.

oContributes to technical transfer of experimental data/procedures to vendors as appropriate

oDocuments personal experimental results accurately and completely in laboratory notebook.

oCollaborates departmentally as well as cross functionally with peers on project work as appropriate.  


Education and Experience:


oBachelors degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science; 2-5 years relevant industry experience

oMasters degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science; 0-3 years relevant industry experience

Knowledge and Skills:

oExperience in flow cytometry is a must, especially with BD CANTOII, BD Lyric, BD Symphony.

oKnowledge in immunology and/or immune oncology.

oExperiences in immune cell handling, including cell isolation, culture and transduction.

oExperiences in cellular characterization assays, including flow cytometry-based, Amnis imaging flow cytometry-based, ELISA, qPCR and other cell-based assays.

oExperiences with assay validation and tech transfer.

oTeamwork – Ability to work well in a highly cross-functional team environment

oCommunication - Able to expresses one’s self clearly and concisely within team; documents issues and/or concerns concisely with colleagues; timely and effectively communicates issues to supervisor; technical writing skills to support contributing to internal technical documents

oOrganization - Exercises good time management and prioritization skills and is able to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously 


oMay require approximately 5% travel.
