OBJECTIVES:

The Oncology Data strategy Lead (DSL) is an exciting new role within the latest Precision and Translational Medicine (PTM) function in the Oncology Therapeutic Area Unit (OTAU) at Takeda. The primary goal of this role will be to develop a comprehensive strategy and roadmap for connecting and facilitating Takeda Oncology early and late Global Project Teams (GPTs) to the internal and external data sets and partnerships needed to answer key translational and drug development questions to help grow our exciting pipeline closer to patients in need

.

The Oncology Data Strategy Leads in PTM will:

  • Develop a map of all internal and external Oncology datasets available across the Takeda enterprise
  • Conduct regular gap analyses of translational data with GTL, Clinical Biomarker leads
  • Partner with Translational and Precision Medicine Leads and other GPT members to develop a data map for each Oncology Global Project Team that can benefit from data for translational hypothesis generation
  • Integrate common data gaps into business justification for future investment and build value proposition
  • Facilitate integration of new datasets into existing data frameworks working with other internal stakeholders in the Data Science Institute
  • Develop use cases, training to the broader Takeda Oncology organization to educate on the value of translational data in advancing drug development
  • Identify and participate in, cultivate win-win relationships with external translational data consortia, and maintain relationships with external data organizations to support Takeda goals

The DSLs will work with the broader data community at Takeda including: the Data Sciences Institute, Computational Biology, IT data engineering, and with Global Project Leadership, Clinical Development, the Cell Therapy Translational Engine, the Oncology Business Unit, and Translational and Precision Medicine Leaders to achieve Oncology R&D goals.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop a strategy for translational data mapping and sharing, and knowledge management across the Oncology Development enterprise
  • Conduct regular gap analyses to map out translational data needs across Oncology programs
  • Establish data mining programs and lead teams to achieve needed data outputs
  • Establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and improve for the successful implementation of our translational data strategy
  • Identify and gain internal alignment on value-added external alliances advance the Oncology Data Strategy
  • Evaluate and promote integration of data analytic tools to facilitate extraction of insights from translational data
  • Partner with biomarker operations and leads to establish data process implementation

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • PhD 2+ years' experience or an MS with 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech R&D, in a translational data related discipline
  • Oncology experience
  • Experience partnering with external organizations on advancing data programs

SKILLS

  • Superior communication (written and oral) skills, can present complex information clearly
  • Strategic, interpersonal, influence, and negotiating skills
  • Experience leading matrix teams to achieve R&D goals
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across departments, projects and time zones
  • Assemble and motivate cross functional stakeholders and drive results
  • predict issues and solve problems with agility
  • Guide decision-making within a versatile, multi-regional, matrix teams
  • Ability to drive multiple priorities forward simultaneously

KNOWLEDGE

  • Advanced knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, drug development, oncology therapeutic area, translational biomarker analysis and interpretation, and data analysis

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to drive to or travel to conferences, partner meetings, including overnight trips. Some international travel may be required
  • Requires approximately 5% travel
