Manager, Strategic Partner Alliance Management

  • Support the VBU interface with key strategic partners to optimize short-term and long-term value for Takeda, starting with partners for the COVID-19 vaccine programs, and others as needed.
  • Support and maintain key partner relationships and draw on relevant VBU players and functions to ensure strong collaboration
  • Represent the VBU headquarter function by bridging the gap between business support and technical operations in key relationship areas.
  • Identify, implement, and standardize continuous improvement opportunities related to alliance management across the external network


  • Support the VBU interface with partners; manage framework to optimize effectiveness of each partnership with Takeda
  • Provide alliance management support for key VBU relationships with to enhance partner practices and improve relationships
  • Ensure effective partner collaboration by supporting established governance processes, timely facilitation and decision-making, relationship management, channels for communication, issue escalation and resolution, and feedback loops for lessons learned
  • Act as a role model and coach for each of the functions involved in day-to-day management of the partnership.
  • Support BD during assessment and diligence processes for potential new partners and provide input and support negotiation of supply and partnership agreements
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable internal policies and procedures, regulations and contractual obligations with partners
  • Manage alliance relationships with key suppliers.  Track and manage performance.  Lead efforts to address any potential supply risks, working closely with cross-functional partners.  
  • Build, manage, and lead teams to drive the above activities. 
  • Foster a culture and values that align with Takeda’s priorities of Patient, Trust, Reputation, and Business


  • B.S. with at least 10 years or M.S./PhD with at least 8/6 years of experience, in bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • A degree in biochemical engineering, biotechnology or a related discipline is highly preferred.
  • Specific experience in project, program, and alliance management and familiarity with related manufacturing and quality systems.  Focus area is with External partnerships
  • Knowledge of cGMPs and regulatory guidance relevant to vaccine manufacturing, from process development through formulation, filling, and finishing of parenteral products.
  • Experience working directly with third parties and proven ability to develop and manage partnerships and relationships.  
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to lead and manage a team, serve as a partner, and influence others in a highly cross-functional and dynamic environment.  .  


  • Effective November 1, 2021, absent an approved religious or medical reason, all US office-based and lab-based Takeda employees who work fully on-site or in a hybrid model (as determined by Takeda) must be fully vaccinated to work at a Takeda site or to engage with Takeda colleagues or anyone else on behalf of Takeda.
