Unlocking Innovation: A Glimpse into Takeda's Innovation Capability Centers (ICCs)

Note: Gabriela was first interviewed for an article featured on builtin.com

At the heart of our commitment to driving global digital transformation are its Innovation Capability Centers (ICCs). These centers serve as dynamic hubs where diverse talents from various backgrounds and countries come together to shape the future of healthcare. Each ICC is a powerhouse of innovation, fostering collaboration and driving our vision of providing better health for a brighter future.

When Gabriela Baez embarked on a visit to our Innovation Capability Center in Bratislava, Slovakia, she discovered firsthand the transformative potential of these centers. As the head of Takeda’s Mexico ICC, a counterpart to the Bratislava center, Baez's journey provided profound insights into the projects her team would be spearheading in Mexico City.

"Meeting colleagues from diverse backgrounds, forming a global community committed to driving digital transformation, made me enthusiastic about the possibilities at Takeda."

Baez's interview and onboarding experience were marked by close support from Takeda's global team, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the company's international efforts.

"Colleagues from Europe and the United States shared their extraordinary experiences, reinforcing Takeda's commitment to providing better health for a brighter future," she added.

Bringing over two decades of experience across the United States, United Kingdom and Latin America, Baez's leadership in enterprise agile transformation, data analytics, innovation pilots and digital product launches positions her uniquely to lead a dynamic team at Takeda’s Mexico ICC.

In a discussion about her onboarding experience, Baez highlighted the combination of human interaction and digital tools, such as webinars and video conferencing, as crucial elements that allowed her to connect with a wide network.

The warm welcome from colleagues pleasantly surprised Baez during her early days at Takeda. From planning introductions with COO Rebecca Kaufmann to visiting ICC Bratislava, Baez experienced open collaboration and support from the global Takeda community.

Now, as she hits the ground running in her role, Baez leads the Innovation Capability Center Mexico, part of an international network within Takeda, that together with other global programs such as the "Workforce of the Future" and the Mexico local team, collaborates on ICC Mexico’s growth.

Her immediate goal? To attract a substantial pool of local digital talent for ICC Mexico, fostering a sense of community and supporting professionals in their career growth. Additionally, Baez is keen on strengthening ties with partners for open innovation initiatives.

Looking ahead, Baez is most excited about leading the creation of ICC Mexico from its early stages, contributing to the growth of over 250 professionals and strengthening ties with the Mexican ecosystem for impactful collaborations.

Joining our growing team, professionals have the opportunity to be part of a unique project, shape a supportive community, and contribute to innovative initiatives that positively impact colleagues, patients, and the planet.
